How Princess Diana’s Legacy Lives On After 25+ Years
It is hard to believe it has been over 25 years since that terrible night in Paris. August 1997 feels like a lifetime ago, but in other ways, it feels like yesterday.
Usually, when a famous person passes away, the world mourns for a week and then moves on. But with her, it is different. You turn on the TV, and you see her influence. You look at her sons, and you see her smile.

That is the amazing thing about how Princess Diana’s legacy lives on. She didn't just leave behind statues or buildings. She left behind people.
She Raised Them to Be "Normal"
Diana had a famous quote. She said she wanted William and Harry to understand "people's emotions, their insecurities, people's distress and their hopes and dreams."
She didn't want them to be stiff, distant Royals. She wanted them to be human.
And it worked. You can see it in our museum. We have this Prince William Gap shirt in the collection. It is just a simple blue and white striped cotton shirt. Nothing fancy. But that shirt tells a huge story. It shows that she shopped at normal stores for them. She made sure they weren't stuck in a bubble.
When you look at Prince William and Prince Harry today, raising their own families, you see that "normalcy" she fought for. They are doing a great job carrying her torch.
The Connection to Kate and Meghan
A lot of people think the legacy stopped with Diana. But it didn't. It grew. One of the coolest things we have at The Princess Diana Museum is a tray. Sounds boring, right? But it’s not.
It is a one-of-a-kind tray signed by both Princess Diana and Catherine Middleton. Seeing those two signatures together gives you chills. It shows how the past and the future are connected.
We also have signed photos from Meghan Markle back when she was an actress. These "dynamic couples" are bringing the Monarchy into the 21st century, exactly like Diana wanted.
Why We Need to Remember
The world is still pretty messy. We still have people hurting, people who need help. That is why Princess Diana’s legacy lives on—because we still need her compassion.
Her work with the homeless, with the sick, and with children... her sons are doing that same work now.
At The Princess & The Platypus Foundation, we aren't just hoarding old dresses. We are keeping the memory alive so the next generation knows who she was.

If you want to see the proof—the baseball gloves, the handwritten notes, the personal items—you should log in to the museum. It’s a way to feel close to her again.
Step into her world.
Become a member today and see how her spirit is still very much alive.
